The hunt is on as two Rancor pack members made their way into the vast farmland. One of the two large canines walked, long strides covering easy ground as the other large, yet smaller, canine trotted aside. There was a bit of silence between the males as they walked, though there was a clear amount of tension. A typical male testosterone battle, even if the smaller of the two knew he could never rule. Over a foot difference in size between the pair was clearly seen and an easy hundred pound difference, the larger of the pair, standing at an easy thirty six inches, weighing in at almost two hundred pounds the long legged massive Great Dane’s cropped ears stood alert, paying attention to every bit of movement and noise around them. Stopping near a fence post to where the fence around it had fallen to pieces and rotted around it, huge maw opened and massive fangs nipped the long haired Rottweiler cross on the rear when he didn’t stop. ”Awe come on boss! Do you have to do that?” Cassius almost whined as the Dane nipped his rear. The twenty four inch tall Rottweiler cross wasn’t much for being bitten. Though his ninety pound thick bodied figure didn’t have much of a chance in a fight with the massive black Dane.
”Shut up idiot!” The solid black brute growled as they stood side by side again. Both sets of brown orbs scanned over the field before them, searching for a meal. A rabbit wouldn’t be loved by Tyko, rodents were not his type of meal, more of little play toys to taunt and bat around. Deer would be too big to drag all the way back to the apartment building the pack made its home, a fawn would be ideal, but both brutes would settle for a few rabbits to tow home. The pair of dark dogs were a site to see as they both laid in the grass, silence yet again. The sound of easy wind in the late evening and birds chirping made the only real noise, the sun slowly setting behind them. The farm had always been a great place for hunting, though the canines both had different ideas of what they wanted to eat. Cassius was sure to jump out at anything, rodent, bird, deer, anything before his eyes, Tyko on the other hand wouldn’t waste his time with birds.
The birds were spooked, it didn’t matter at what but Cassius was off like a light, running his heart out like a greyhound out the gate. ”You retard, you’re scaring all the good stuff away.” The massive black brute jumped up behind the black and tan canine as the birds flew away safely. Huge paws grabbing the long haired black body of Cassius, maw opening over the back of the canine’s neck. A scrap between pack mates was nothing new and with an easily angered leader like Tyko was it was on. Loud growling heard between the two as the Dane quickly pinned the mutt on his back on the ground. ”I told you leave the stupid birds alone mutt!” The massive black brute growled and let go of the cross, shaking his head and walking away, searching for a new place to search for a meal. Cassius picked himself off the ground, shook off and ran after his alpha. ”I’m sorry Tyko, I just got too excited, I’m sorry. Forgive me.” The smaller of the pair lowered his head as he slowed following quietly. The pair finally embraced the silence once again resting down in the long grass once again to search for their new meal.
A long brown rabbit shifted in the and this time the pair was in sync, both jumping up at the same time splitting up and taking the rabbit form either side. Knowing it could still run away the pair was quickly all over the terrified rodent. Tyko was ahead quickly, Cassius keeping the rabbit from veering off, teamwork was key, even though either canine could do this on their own. Pouncing forward the Great Dane’s massive paws swatted the helpless rabbit right towards Cassius where the Rottweiler wrapped his fangs and jaw around it, snapping its neck in his mouth. Finally their first kill, another one of these would make a great meal for the pack. The pair slowly came to a halt, found their new place to wait, laid down, taking a few breaths to be prepared to do it all over again, watching their fresh kill and keeping it safely between them. They kept caution just in case another canine was to approach and threaten, though the pair of them would be more than prepared, and lab dogs didn’t normally wander so far out of town.
