Appearance::
Kota is rather large for her breed,Weighing in at 52 lbs. and standing 22" from head to toe.This is not normal for her sex and breed.Her coat is completely white with the exception of a patch of merle on her back.She has been called "Patchwork" her whole life,And she hates it. Her eyes are a dark blue color. Looking into them,You'll notice something is wrong. This is because Kota was born blind,Read all about it in her history.
Kota's nose is coal black with a few patches of fleshy pink.Her legs are long and muscular,After all...she's been running aimlessly her whole life.She has a thick build. Her frame is heavy and her body is pretty muscular.Her fur is medium lengthed and very thick,Great for the winter! Her ears flop over her forehead like triangles.She has one scar on her stomach from where she fell on a rock as a pup.

Personality:: Kota sort of hates herself. She believes that she is a burden upon others and shouldn't be here. She was born blind,And after all these years she would do anything to change it.Her life is miserable,She can't hunt. She can't fight. She can't even swim on her own! She's tired of all the help that dogs try to give her. "Just let me do it on my own!" she often yells when she snaps. Kota is independent,And doesn't want the help of others. She fears almost nothing.When you can't see,What the hell should you be scared of? She's been known to sneak off and stare angrily into space,Desperately trying to see the world. She can sense the good and evil in others very easily. Her hearing is normal,her scent is average too. Kota thinks she is ordinary,The others are one of a kind. She dreams of love,Although it may never come. Who would mate with a blind dog? The sound of other dogs' voices soothe her sorrow. She is usually depressed,But the feeling that someone is with her calms her down. She hates being alone,it drives her absolutely insane. She needs company.She needs to know that she's safe in another dog's presence.This dog is also what humans would call "Bipolar." One minute she's happy as can be,The next she's depressed and hates life.

History:: Kota was the result of a double merle breeding. This means her mother and father both carried the merle gene. When these are bred together,The merle gene doubles resulting in Lethal White Syndrome. Lethal White Syndrome appears as a completely white australian shepherd with only a partial amount of coloration,sometimes none at all. Dogs born like this are born with defects,Usually being blind and/or deaf. Now back to Kota's story. Kota was born in a puppy mill. Kota's mother was named Maybelle. She was an abused bitch that was overbred,Sometimes force-bred. When the owners of the mill wanted some red and blue merle puppies in the same litter,They bred her to a red merle stud named Champ. Only three pups were born,And all of them had Lethal White Syndrome. The owners titled them as "Rare albino aussies" and all sold except for Kota. Maybelle was very attached to her last pup,and guarded Kota with her life. When the mill owners found out that Maybelle was too old and too weak to carry another litter,They shot her then and there. Kota was left in a garbage bag floating down the river. Kota spent over five hours in the bag. Right when you'd expect her to suffocate,The bag caught on a sharp rock and was torn to pieces. Kota fell down a small waterfall and almost died. The fact that she was blind meant that she couldn't see if she was in water,She could've swam right into a deathtrap. After swimming for a while,Kota made it to land. She learned to follow scent trails to small scraps of meat,The only way she could eat.
