No New Posts Housepet Homes

--Not every dog in Cold Creek is a stray. Any dog with an owner to their name needs a home, a backyard all their own or maybe a little apartment shared with their human. Whatever it is that they call home, it can be found here.

No New Posts Winter Village Apartments

--Home to the Rancor Pack, the Winter Village Apartments are located on the north end of Cold Creek. Abandoned for over ten years, the apartments are falling to pieces and boarders must tread carefully. Units, now used by street strays, contain odds and ends of former tenants such as mattresses, broken furniture, clothes and other ghosts of the past. Stairways creak and groan when even the lightest canine treads on them so, who knows how long this place could last.

No New Posts Horizon Diner

--Set up in the late 1980s, this old fashioned diner has been a staple in Cold Creek since it opened its doors. Factory workers, farmers and business owners often eat here meaning scraps are plentiful. Hungry strays make their way for the back doors and raid garbage cans and dumpsters almost nightly. If the cooks catch a stray though, it's straight to the pound and worse. Anyone wanting to eat here has a good chance of finding food but, it pays to be sneaky about it.

No New Posts Refresher's Laundry

--Only recently closed, this old laundry shop has become a hot spot for strays in need of shelter. Left to sit, the dryers make fine nests if you drag together some of the left behind clothes. The back door with broken hinges is the perfect entrance since the front door is not only boarded up but also in plain view of humans strolling along main street. It also might be a good idea to be quick about finding your place since the entire storefront is plate glass windows and if you're spotted, it's off to the pound.

No New Posts Our Lady of Charity

--Closed down some twenty years ago when the perish joined with a larger one, Our Lady of Charity is a modest little church that is home to the Sanctuary Pack. Broken or tipped over pews, an old alter, a few faded pictures and torn up carpet are all that remain in this old church but it does well enough for the pack. With a basement full of left behind junk and a more or less empty upper level and choir balcony, the church is ideal for a growing pack. Most canines choose to enter through the back basement windows which have been busted out but the front doors work just fine if you'll be so bold.

No New Posts Peaceful Rest Burial Grounds

--Tucked in a quiet corner of Cold Creek, Peaceful Rest Burial Grounds offer a quiet respite from the hustle, bustle and dangers of day to day life. Canines often roam the monuments and old tombstones, relaxing after a recent frantic escape or simply trying to find a place to be alone. A few humans come around now and then but seldom bother roaming strays.

No New Posts Thorton Park

--Dotted with old oaks, benches and playgrounds, Thorton Park is at the heart of Cold Creek. Humans crowd the winding sidewalks on weekends and when the weather is fair, the park is almost never silent. Thankfully, with so many housepets roaming around, strays tend to blend in pretty easily and sometimes get to join the fun. On more than one occasion, a stray has even found a home in a peaceable human that earns their trust here.

No New Posts Rosemary Garden

--In 2007, an elderly woman named Rosemary Hawthorne was forced to leave her condemned home. When the home was knocked down, she returned to the lot and planted a garden. Plants of all sorts from fragrant flowers to pungent herbs, delicate ferns and decorative trees, were planted on the lot from sidewalk to sidewalk. It's been three years since her passing and the humans on the street still maintain the garden as a sort of monument to her. Strays like to take their rest here, finding quiet hideaways to be with their special someones or just rest.

No New Posts Truman General Store

--Shut down for years, this dusty old storefront is just an empty shop on main street. Humans pass it every day without a glance, so accustomed to it being empty. That is why no one notices the occasional dog slipping in and out around sundown or sunup. This musty old store is home to the infamous Shadow Pack. Here, the escapees of the labs hide in plain sight.

No New Posts Holding Cages

--Three rooms of D.E.A.D. Labs are used for holding canine testing subjects. They are all connected by one door and which room you are in depends on which kind of cage you have. They're all uncomfortably small but designed differently.

No New Posts Yards

--Four yards are fenced off around the lab for various uses. They are of different sizes and each has a different sort of fencing. Dogs that have been at the labs for a while are quite used to being brought in and out of these yards and soon learn their purposes and what the different fencing types mean.

No New Posts Perimeter Yard

--The entire property owned by DEAD Labs is fenced off by a double layer of chain linked fencing topped with barb wire. In one small corner, on the far end of the grounds is a small yard often used for holding new dogs or when the other four yards are full. It is considered something akin to solitary confinement. A mesh net covers the top of this section preventing easy escape and that particular part of the yard has a consistent electric current running through it to prevent anyone from phasing out.

No New Posts Endurance Run

--A large section of the DEAD yards is set aside for an obsitcle course. Dogs with various or even no abilities are placed in here at various times to assess their physical condition. This is generally for dogs that are new to testing or just to keep old dogs conditioned if the lab believes their money is still well invested in the old dog. As many as five dogs have been known to be let loose in here and any ones that don't complete the course are disposed of.

No New Posts Quarterstone Quarry

--Popular at one time with many people in Cold Creek, the Quarterstone Quarry was something of a man-made lake for the city folk. A severe accident with a local teen stopped visitors and the county set up blocks on the roads up to the Quarry. Every now and then, a police car will cruise by but, no one could ever guess what happens here. When the labs moved in they set up traps of all kinds, wire, jaw, pits, you name it, it's probably out there. Trail cameras watch the quarry, waiting to snag evidence of a wayward canine or feline. Once spotted, the animal is promptly rounded up and shipped off for testing.

No New Posts Mad Dog Creek

--When it first moved in, the D.E.A.D Labs purchased a tributary of Cold Creek. To keep people off the property, they loosed several "rabid" dogs and fed the rumors that mad dogs lived in a pack there. Now, no one will go near it. To canines though, Mad Dog Creek is a death trap. Traps and cameras are tucked into the woodland around the creek and often drugged bait is left for canines. Some say even the water is drugged with a heavy sedative.

No New Posts Old Back Roads

--Leading out of Cold Creek are several small two-lane roads that go on forever. So small they're not even listed on a map, these little roads are surrounded by farmland, forestry and who knows what else. At night, many drivers report seeing stray dogs and wolves almost as often as they report seeing or hitting deer. Secluded and lonesome, these stretches of road can lead to new beginnings or trouble if you run into the wrong dogs or wolves out where no one can hear you call for help.

No New Posts Cold Creek

--Namesake of the town, Cold Creek is more like a small river, snaking along the outskirts of the town. Forested on both sides, this is a popular hang out for teens during the hot summer months. The thing is however, that after dark it gets dangerous to be here. This land is home of the Fleet Pack and while they tolerate occasional human activity, they do draw the line at sundown.

No New Posts The Tracks

--No train has passed by Cold Creek and nearly two generations, but the tracks still remain. Grown over in places, surrounded by trees or just laying in the middle of nowhere, these tracks had withstood the test of time. A good quiet place to come and think, many canines have been known to lazily walk along the tracks and ponder the world around them and the corruption of Cold Creek. Older dogs ponder what went wrong while younger dogs ponder how to fix it.

No New Posts Cold Creek Junkyard

--Kept out of the way of people, the county junkyard is something of a pit in the ground where old cars, broken appliances, busted furniture and other unwanted odds and ends rot and rust. Surrounded by a chain link fence but otherwise not blocked off, the junkyard is mostly left alone by humans making it a fine home for a stray pack. It's the King Pack that call this place home.

No New Posts Meadow Haven Farm

--Once a nice little family own farm, Meadow Haven was well known for its prized quarter horses and pick-your-own-peaches. Well, generations turned over and the farmer's kids sold the land. No one wanted it and now it sits, open and unclaimed. Strays and even the rare wolf make quick use of the open hunting land and find shelter in either the barn or the farmhouse. With overgrown fields and no humans for quite a ways, this farm is ideal for hunters. Anyone with a taste for bird or rabbit will find this land quite useful.

No New Posts Martin Wood

--Once owned by a man named Nathan Martin, Martin Wood used to be a hunting reserve used by the people of Cold Creek. Named now in his honor, the wood is marginally left alone except for the occasional bunch of rowdy teens or seasonal hunters. Since prey is still plentiful, and even more so without humans around, the Song Pack has set up their home here. This is wolf territory and very dangerous for domestic canines.
